Bill Quek

Bill Quek is the visionary leader of our creative house. A position he has held since 1993, when he was passed on the torch of running Instant Replay Productions from founder, Robert James Herbert, a veteran filmmaker from Australia.

With steadfast determination, Bill built Instant Replay to what it is today, helping to establish our core values of Integrity, Responsibility and Professionalism based on his own believes in life. His philosophy and approach to life can be summed up in one sentence, “One of the best ways to succeed at anything you choose to do is to help others become successful.”

Bill is also a hands-on guy in whatever he pursues. At Instant Replay, he has accumulated a vast amount of experience in handling camerawork, editing and his personal passion, 3D animation. His dedication to constantly honing his skills and ability to give his 100% comes from his other passion, Martial arts. Bill holds a black belt in Ki Aikido and is an official instructor in People’s Association. Even though he is a trainer who has reached an advanced level, he never stops to continuously improve himself. The same discipline he brings to our industry. He constantly upgrades his skills and keeps abreast with the media industry’s evolving technology. He also readily shares his knowledge and skills with his team members.

Selvam Dass

It is not about how you write, it is about how you think. This statement sums up Selvam’s uncanny ability to pen words that resonate impeccably with any given audience. His strong affair with storytelling goes back more than thirty years when his composition won first prize at the inter-schools level.

He was then asked to perform the daunting task of presenting his magnum opus to crowd of a thousand (rather rambunctious youths at an assembly hall. Nevertheless, there in front of a hyper audience, he discovered another innate ability – the power to communicate. His oratory skills served him well to keep the audience listening. Since then he never looked back. In 1999, he graduated with a Diploma in Mass Communications from Ngee Ann Polytechnic. That year he collaborated with Theatreworks’ Director Ong Keng Sen to produce a documentary feature – The Flying Circus Project. In 2004, his movie which he produced and co-directed made its world premiere in the prestigious ‘34th International Film Festival Rotterdam’. It also won the Gold Award at the prestigious 38th WorldFest – Houston Film Festival. Today, Selvam is experienced in the areas of producing, directing, scripting, conceptualizing and post-production with us at Instant Replay.

Muhammad Hafiz

The true measure of success is when you whole heartedly help others to succeed. This noble belief from Hafiz‘s treasure chest of adages, is in fact an embodiment of our Credo. At the turn of the new millennium, Hafiz joined Instant Replay as a cinematographer.

A graduate with a diploma in Film, Sound & Video from Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Hafiz quickly forayed into various disciplines of our medium, working hard in many roles, from a cameraperson to post-production work.He even ventured into music composition. He takes pride in taking up different duties and never to shirk away from additional responsibilities. He believes that in any undertaking, no matter big or small, we must give our best, with our skills, knowledge and expertise and above all, our heart.

Aaron Quek

Aaron is a literary enthusiast who loves the art of storytelling and scriptwriting. Sine young, he had honed his linguistic as well as written skills in English and Mandarin and had scored well in both languages.

As he navigated his way through the ranks, it became apparent that his skills will prove invaluable to the industry as well as us at Instant Replay. Today, his dexterous capability as a producer and bilingual scriptwriter gives us an edge in meeting our customers’ diverse needs. His contributions to our on-going productions has helped garner glowing reviews from customers.

Rafael Bonaficio

Rafael, the master renaissance artist he is not. Nevertheless, Rafael is our very own 21st century artist,

with a gift for creating 2D/3D digital art in all its glory. Be it short format commercials featuring FMCPs or long format TV programmes that is recognized globally, Rafael’s love for 2D/3D animation knows no bounds.

His keen interest in animation propelled him to undertake training on Japanese animation in Tokyo, Japan. He has worked on various well known projects such as Saint Seiya, Dragon Ball Z, X-Men, Transformers and Romance of Three Kingdoms to name a few.

Rafael’s list of achievements includes being invited to be a judge for a contest to design and animate for AXN Animexion. He also worked as the character designer for “Sing to the Dawn” a 3D project by FrameworksPte Ltd and Raintree Pictures. More recently he worked on the critically acclaimed anime feature film titled “Tatsumi”.

At Instant Replay, Rafael holds the fort as the lead animator for our animation division. Together with our team of specialists, Rafael extends his expertise in creating 2D/3D animation for various government as well as commercial endeavours.

Raffi Khan

A vindictive tycoon. A materialistic surgeon. A humble pilot. What do they have in common? Raffi Khan.

A veteran actor who has been influential in the Malay broadcast industry for more than 30 years, Raffi Khan began his career as a dramatic actor in 1984.

After a stint in Kuala Lumpur acting in dramas, he came back to Singapore and was quickly casted in one of Singapore’s longest running drama series ‘Gelora’ consisting of 160 episodes. As a natural progression, Raffi got into directing and subsequently produced several shorts and a feature film in 2015. At Instant Replay, Raffi plays an instrumental role in directing content. With decades of experience working as a team player, Raffi believes in contributing whole-heartedly with his skills and knowledge in the success of each production, big and small.

Raffi’s modus operandi: It’s not enough to be just seen and heard, but to be understood.

Nizamuddin Nordin

Nizam is a multi talented individual with a keen interest in animation, music and character design. At the tender age of 13, he became fascinated with comics and began sketching his own characters over the years. But it wasn’t enough for him. He wanted to bring his characters to life, out of his imagination, to a medium where one can see and hear his characters in action. This led to him pursue and achieve a diploma in 3D modelling and animation through the Workforce Skills and Qualification Programme.

Upon graduation, he began his career in the 3D animation paradigm, working for animation houses. With career taking flight, he discovered a new found interest – the art of visuals effects. Everything that goes into making a scene more dramatic – smoke, explosions, fire, you name it. He began dabbling with After Effects and Smoke to develop his new found interest and became quite naturally proficient in them. With his arsenal of skills, Nizam joined Instant Replay as a visual effects artist – our very own After Effects Architect of Destruction we call him. To date, he has contributed to numerous productions that involve 2D/3D effects compositing on live action like fire, smoke and even particles for underwater sequences.

Nizam’s adept skills as an artist, coupled with his ability to maintain a high level of professionalism at work makes him a valuable addition to our company. He meets deadlines without compromising on quality, standards and risking good relationship with our peers, stakeholders and clients.

Gerald Choy

Gerald graduated from Republic Polytechnic with a Diploma in Information Technology. Since then he pursued his strong interest in 2D and 3D animation. He cultivated his interest by taking up and graduating from SAE with a Diploma in Screen.

Gerald today is proficient in animation and editing softwares which include Maya, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator. He is a pro-active, hands-on, hardworking team player who is keen to learn new things and is motivated to achieve goals. Your goals.

Joshua Jang

We fondly call him an alchemist, an after effects alchemist to be precise. Joshua is an avid animator who has a penchant for digital art. From abstract illustrations, 2D / 3D animations to visual effects compositing, Joshua has built a strong foundation in animating anything from lifelike characters to satellite cities.

Joshua found his calling early in his life. At the age of five when his father bought him a pen, and told him that the pen is mightier than the sword, Joshua picked up his paintbrush and replied to his father, the paintbrush is mightier than the pen. Today, the stylus has replaced the brush. But his passion for creating art remains unwaivered.

Joshua’s modus operandi: Art has no boundaries.

Nurisham

Isham grew up with a love for sports and enjoys Soccer, Silat and Hockey. He has competed in Silat competitions and was even awarded 1st runner up. With enthusiasm to take on challenges, he yearns to be able to skydive one day. As part of our Instant Replay Team, Isham brings to our table his experience in Digital Animation, Videography & Editing.

Young and dedicated, Isham works efficiently with the tasks given and never compromises what he has on hand. He enjoys being around with people who pushes and inspires him in the pursuit of excellence. He believes that every challenge is an opportunity for growth.

Nikki Jon Bal

Nikki is a Bachelor’s degree holder and a certified Professional 2D Animator. At an early age, he was exposed to handling multiple projects. His passion in the Animation field led him to be involved in various projects as a freelancer for a couple of years — His clients include WayForward and UK’s Morphline Pictures Ltd, to mention a few.

Nicholas Tan

Nicholas is an animator with a strong passion for Video Games and all things 3D.

Wee Teng

Wee Teng has always had an interest in animation since young. Fascinated with the moving characters on screen, she soon gained the dream to not just experience the work as a viewer but also as a creator. She wanted to create her own stories that invoke thoughts and emotions powerfully. This eventually led to her obtaining a Diploma in Character Animation.
